‘’Wiltshire’s most social online news website bringing you the latest breaking, local news, sports, community information, travel, weather and comment round the clock.’’
FLIC Wiltshire came to us (BRAVEDOG) looking to re-develop their website and better position their brand. The brief was broad and challenged our team to address some fundamental issues around brand, traffic volumes and engagement as well as seeking ways to improve the overall user experience. Also key to FLIC is delivering reach and ROI for advertising partners; they wanted their new site to have more advertising space whilst retaining a balance between quality content and commercial delivery.
In approaching the project there were a number of key considerations, utmost was that we maintained FLIC’s established identity and brand recognition among a strong and loyal following.
The clean, responsive design we devised for FLIC’s new site was with the aim of providing an improved overall user experience (UX), across multiple devices, principally mobile. Our objective was to enable users to find their desired content more easily and encourage them to spend more time reading and engaging with content.
Having also studied the analytics on FLIC’s previous site it was evident that usability, particularly on mobile needed improvement. By fully optimising the new site for mobile and significantly increasing the speed of content delivery to the site, we’ve been able to maximise the scope for users to enjoy FLIC’s content on the move.
As they say, “Content is king”, FLIC now also enjoy a vastly improved CMS (Content Management System) giving their journalists and editors much more seamless control over how articles, features and advertising are managed.
The entire project from front-end features and delivery to back-end functionality has been carefully planned and expertly executed to deliver a new website and experience that puts FLIC right at the heart of Swindon and surrounding areas.
Helen Marks, Digital Sales and Marketing Manager of FLIC Wiltshire says:
